Cushion lab-grown diamond reference illustration

Shape & selection guide

Cushion lab-grown diamonds.

Cushions have rounded corners, with substantial variation in outline and faceting. A square cushion, an elongated cushion and different brilliant patterns are not interchangeable choices. Select the appearance you prefer before narrowing colour and clarity.

What to check in a cushion diamond

  • Ask whether the actual stone is square or elongated and compare its measured ratio.
  • Review how the facet pattern looks at normal viewing distance; the shape name alone does not describe the sparkle pattern.
  • Compare spread and depth, so added weight is not mistaken for a proportionate increase in visible area.

Plan the setting around the stone

Rounded corners soften a solitaire or a three-stone ring. Check how much metal or a halo covers the outline before deciding on the centre-stone dimensions.

Verify the selected stone’s report and confirm growth origin and any treatment disclosure. Reference images, grades and estimated dimensions on this page do not certify a specific diamond.
